Following the strong discussion at our recent Members Forum, DBQ will be holding a dedicated Juniors & Grassroots Development Forum on 17 November.

There was clearly a lot of passion in the room around the future of junior dragon boating in Queensland, and we know that passion extends well beyond those who were able to attend. Now we want to bring those people together and turn that passion into action.

The forum will look at how we grow junior participation, engage schools and communities, break down the barriers holding us back, and build stronger pathways that keep young people involved in our sport.

Importantly, the aim is not another talkfest. We’re not looking for people to simply offer up ideas about what DBQ or somebody else should be doing. We’re looking for members and clubs who want to get involved, actively participate and play a part in shaping and driving what comes next.

DBQ can provide the platform and support, but there is an enormous amount of experience, enthusiasm and capability within our own community. This is an opportunity to bring those people together and ask what we can achieve collectively.

If we can walk away with two or three achievable priorities, along with people who are prepared to help drive them, then we have something we can genuinely build on.

So, if you’re genuinely passionate about the future of juniors and grassroots dragon boating in Queensland and really do want to be at the forefront and play a part in it, we want you in the room on 17 November.
